Deputy Town Clerk
|Has overall responsibility for conducting the business of the Council and advising the Council.||Supports the Town Clerk with Human Resources issues, payroll & pensions. Oversees the administration of the council, Lace Hill Sports & Community Centre and the Market.||Manages the Grounds Maintenance Team and looks after all of the Green Spaces. Responsible for the management of the Brackley Road Cemetery.|
|Maintains accounts and budgets for the Council. In partnership with the Deputy Town Clerk, oversees Payroll & Pensions.||Works with the Town Centre and Events Committee and organises the town’s events programme.||Main admin support for the Town Clerk and is Clerk to the Planning Committee.|

|Manages the day to day operation of the Tourist Information Centre, provides information services to promote Buckingham.||Clerks meetings of the Council’s Committees and liaises with Committee Chairmen to ensure that the minutes reflect an accurate record of Council Meetings. Provides administration support to the Estates and Green Spaces Team.||Manages day-to-day running of, and co-ordinates bookings for for the Lace Hill Sports & Community & Centre.|

|Co-ordinates the production of the Buckingham Neighbourhood Development Plan and aids in the preparation of documents for any change in the Local Development Framework.||Promotes and runs the Shopmobility service aiming to assist people with reduced mobility to more fully use the Town’s facilities.||Takes care of general administration for the Council offices and co-ordinates the production of Buckingham Town Matters. Provides administration support to the Estates and Green Spaces Team.|
Ground Maintenance Supervisor
|Manages the market on behalf of the Town Council. Ensures that all traders are operating safely and that all rules and regulations laid down are adhered to.||Arranges the workload of the Grounds Maintenance team and makes “on the ground” decisions while out on site.||Carries out general maintenance on play areas, parks and cemeteries, ensures that equipment is safe for use and facilities are Health and Safety compliant.|

There are four wards in Buckingham, with eight councillors for Buckingham South, seven councillors for Buckingham North and one each for the wards of Fishers Field and Highlands & Watchcroft – making a total of 17 councillors.

Interested in becoming a councillor?
Elections take place every four years; the next election is May 2019. The timescales, advertising and process of elections is governed by a statutory procedure. All candidates have to be proposed and seconded by electors of the parish.
If an existing Councillor post becomes vacant, the vacancy is advertised for a fixed period of time and – unless ten electors have requested a poll – the vacancy is filled by co-option at a subsequent council meeting.
