Recreation

Part of the essential infrastructure for the town is good recreational facilities, which leave room for future expansion.

Talking Points:

  • The Town has a number of facilities used for the local arts groups but lacks a purpose-built theatre/ exhibition space.
  • Can play areas be more innovative and inclusive?
  • Can provision of more sports facilities be more cohesive and not scattered around the town?

The Buckingham Neighbourhood Development Plan will

  • protect green space for recreational use and provides support for active transport such as walking and cycling for both recreational and commuting purposes.
  • Through the Design Code seek accessible and appealing play areas for all ages groups – yes that includes adults!
  • support the provision of a theatre space for arts groups by creation of a new building or repurposing of an existing building.
  • support provision of new sports facilities with the important requirement that there should be room for future expansion of those facilities on the same site.
