Buckingham Town Council’s Fringe Week 2026 was a tremendous success, bringing families and visitors together for a week-long celebration of nature, wildlife and community spirit.
Taking place from Monday 20th July to Sunday 26th July, this year’s Fringe Week was inspired by the remarkable legacy of Sir David Attenborough, who celebrated his 100th birthday this year. The programme of events encouraged people of all ages to connect with the natural world through a diverse range of free and affordable activities across Buckingham.
Throughout the week, local families embraced a packed schedule of events, including:
- A picnic at the Community Orchard.
- A nature trail through Bourton Park.
- Wildlife-themed crafts at the historic Chantry Chapel.
- A rustic floral workshop hosted by Howes the Florist.
- Oxford Fiddle Group
- A nature-themed quiz night at the Grand Junction.
- Bugfest.
- Art in the Market.
- A screening of The People’s Emergency Briefing at The Film Place.
- Bite Club.
- Lace Hill Family Fun Day.
The varied programme ensured there was something for everyone, from creative workshops and outdoor adventures to educational experiences and family entertainment. Many of the events were free to attend, helping to make the week accessible to residents across the town.
With a fantastic turnout for the events, Fringe Week highlighted Buckingham’s strong community spirit and demonstrated the enthusiasm local people have for learning about and protecting the natural environment.

It was a tremendous week of activities, working together with our partners in the community, in conjunction with our Events Team and Green Spaces Team, supported by the Town Centre and Events Committee of Buckingham Town Council to deliver a wide range of events. These brought our community in north Buckinghamshire together with shared activities for young and old. I would like to thank everybody involved in delivering this week of Buckingham Fringe events again in 2026.
