Buckingham Town Council hosted its first ever Careers Fair on Thursday 29 October at Buckingham Community Centre, welcoming a wide range of attendees, from teenagers exploring their future career options to adults looking for new opportunities.
The event brought together employers and organisations from a variety of sectors, giving visitors the opportunity to speak directly with representatives, find out more about different career paths and discover local employment opportunities.
A big thank you goes to all the organisations who supported the event and gave their time to speak with attendees. We were pleased to welcome representatives from Childbase – Field House Day Nursery, The Swan Practice, Marie Mallaband Care Group – Lace Hill Manor Care Home, Buckinghamshire Council’s Residential Children’s Services, Home Instead, The Stowe Group, Boughtons Estate Agents, UK Professional Guarding Limited (UKPGL), Gemstone Getaways, Urban OM Yoga, S4A, Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service, WIPAC, Cloudy IT, the RAF and Intuitive Thinking Skills.
A special thank you goes to the Buckingham Rotary Club, who generously gave their time to attend and offer visitors CV checks and general career advice. Their support provided an additional and valuable service to those looking to improve their employment prospects.

Stallholders brought along a fantastic range of interactive displays and activities to help visitors get a better understanding of their work and industries. S4A provided a ball game for visitors to try, while Childbase showcased examples of children’s books illustrated in-house and used within their nurseries. WIPAC brought along a selection of interesting vehicle lamps and lighting products, and Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service gave visitors the opportunity to see their 4×4 fire appliance up close.
Everyone who attended, both stallholders and visitors, was incredibly friendly and engaged, creating a welcoming atmosphere throughout the evening. It was a beneficial opportunity for people to explore different career options, ask questions and make connections with local employers and organisations.
As Buckingham Town Council’s first ever Careers Fair, there is plenty to learn from the experience. The Council hopes to build on the success of this event in the future. Follow their social media for updates as to another Careers Fair.
Councillor Robin Stuchbury, Chair of the Town Centre and Events Committee, said:
“It was excellent to see so many local firms come together for the event. It was really encouraging to see such a good turnout from residents, and we hope the Careers Fair was beneficial to everyone who attended.”
