A new chapter for Buckingham was marked on Friday 18 September as the town’s new Tingewick Road Cemetery was officially opened with a special ribbon cutting ceremony.
The ceremony brought together current and former Buckingham Town Councillors, members of the local community and those who have helped bring the cemetery project from an idea to a new facility for the town.
The ribbon cutting also provided an opportunity to recognise the contribution of Town Councillors, past and present, whose work across different terms of office has helped shape and deliver the project.
Located off the Tingewick Road roundabout, the new cemetery provides a peaceful and dedicated place for families and their loved ones, while ensuring that Buckingham has burial provision for generations to come.
With 1,060 burial plots, the cemetery includes a range of options, including traditional and lawn burial areas, family plots and a dedicated section for children.
The opening marks an important milestone for the town, with the cemetery expected to become operational over the coming weeks. Further information will be provided by Buckingham Town Council as arrangements progress.
