Our access to Green Space is cherished by Buckingham residents – this was consistently raised at consultation.
Talking Points:
- The specific designation of “Local Green Space” can only be made during the plan-making process.
- In 2015 Buckingham was a frontrunner in this new process. Seven sites were designated.
- Why is this important? “Local Green Space” gives identical protection as Green Belt designation, only to smaller areas that hold importance to the local community.
In 2025, the 2015 sites have been confirmed again, as well as new sites added:
- Land behind Watlow Gardens
- Holloway Spinney
- Maids Moreton Avenue
- Bridge Street Skate park and adjacent play are
- Railway Walk and Scenic Walk
- St Rumbold’s Field [site of St Rumbold’s Well]
- Chandos Park
- Bourton Park
- Recreational strip of land behind Bobbins Way on Lace Hill estate
- Verney Park, Bernardine’s Way
- Heartlands Park
- Land off Page Hill Avenue, Page Hill estate.
