Small Business Saturday

December 6 @ 10:00 16:00

From 10:00–11:00am, local solo vocalist Amelia Barnard will perform outside the Council Chamber, opposite Waitrose in the Cornwalls Meadow shopping centre. She will be followed by The Rock Project, a lively children’s rock group from Milton Keynes, performing from 12:00–1:30pm. Rounding off the celebrations will be Buckingham Ukulele Group, a well-loved community favourite, performing from 2:30–4:00pm.

Two community incentives will also launch on this day and run until 22nd December, encouraging residents to shop locally this festive season.

The first is a Festive Swan Window Hunt, aimed at children and families. Festive swans will be hidden in shop windows across the town. Trail sheets will be available from the Tourist Information Centre on the day and will also be handed out during the performances. Everyone who completes the trail will receive a small prize. All completed entries will also be entered into a prize draw to win fantastic prizes kindly donated by local businesses, including:

  • A three-month book subscription from Buckingham Bookshop, where a personally selected book is chosen each month based on your literary tastes
  • Three family swim vouchers and three soft play vouchers for The Swan Pool and Leisure Centre

The second incentive is a loyalty card, designed to reward local spending. Each £5 spent at participating stores earns one stamp. Once your five stamps are collected, return your completed card to any participating business or the Tourist Information Centre to be entered into a £100, £50 and £25 Local Shopping Voucher prize draw. Participating businesses will be listed on the Buckingham Town Council website closer to the event.

Every small business represents someone’s dream and years of dedication. This Christmas, we encourage everyone to shop local — explore Buckingham’s independent shops first for thoughtful, unique, and personal gifts.
