Buckingham’s Christmas Lights Switch on Brings Festive Cheer to the Town Centre

Buckingham will sparkle once again as the town’s annual Christmas Lights Switch On returns on Thursday 27th November, 4pm – 7pm, bringing a magical evening of festivities, music, and community spirit to the town centre.

The event will feature live performances from the Stagecoach Theatre Arts Group, Great Horwood Silver Band, and the Bucks Gospel Fellowship Choir, as well as a special visit from Santa in the Buckingham Table Santa Van.

The Mayor of Buckingham, Cllr Fran Davies, will officially switch on the Christmas lights, assisted by the winners of this year’s Christmas Card Competition.

Visitors can enjoy an array of local market stalls, food and drink vendors, and charity stalls, perfect for picking up festive gifts and seasonal treats. They can also visit the many businesses that stay open late to start their Christmas shopping.

A digital copy of the event programme will be available closer to the date, featuring full timings and details of performances and activities.

Join us as we celebrate the start of the festive season in Buckingham — a wonderful evening of lights, laughter, and local pride!

Cllr Robin Stuchbury, Chair of the Town Centre & Events Committee, commented:

“This year’s Christmas Lights Switch On will take place on the 27th. There will be a wide range of stalls and family-friendly activities. The lights will be switched on by our Mayor, Cllr Fran Davies, along with the children who won the Christmas Card Competition, as they jointly light up the town under the Christmas tree. All the lights have been paid for and facilitated by the Town Council once again this year to support the local economy over the Christmas period.”
