Buckingham Remembers: Annual Parade Unites the Community

On Sunday 9th November, Buckingham came together for the annual Remembrance Parade. The event holds a special place in our community as we unite to honour all those who so bravely fought for our country and its allies. Together, we remembered them.

Buckingham Town Council would like to thank the Buckingham Royal British Legion for organising the parade, as well as Reverend William Pearson-Gee, Rector of Buckingham, Major Philip Sturtivant, Major John Parry (Salvation Army), and Reverend Ope Ayileye for leading the service. Special thanks also go to the Town Mayor, Councillor Fran Davies, for her participation.

We would also like to extend our gratitude to the Army Cadets, RAF Cadets, Brownies, and Scouts for attending, and to the wonderful band whose music guided the parade and helped us pay tribute to those who served.

Many thanks also go to Martin Try and his company, G&T Mixers, for providing their PA system and generously giving their time to help ensure the event was accessible to all members of the public.

Finally, thank you to all members of the public who joined us to commemorate this important day, and to the volunteers who assisted Buckingham Town Council with marshalling and road closures.

Councillor Robin Stuchbury, Chair of Town Centre and Events Committee, said:

“Firstly, thank you to everyone who turned out to support the parade. We are very grateful to all those who put effort into organising and coordinating the event, supported by community volunteers — without whom it would not be possible. Alongside the Mayor, Councillor Fran Davies, the Deputy Lord-Lieutenant, and other civic dignitaries, it was a privilege to take part. Lastly, it must be said that without the support of the Council, our community cohesion, and the shared wish to do the right thing, we would not be able to continue.”
