Did you think it had all gone very quiet on the Neighbourhood Plan after all the consultation events? Well there is big news ahead. In case you are wondering what a Neighbourhood Plan is, or just want to be reminded, see the Q&A below:
What is a Neighbourhood Plan? | It is a grassroots & most localised planning document. It forms one half of the legal Development Plan for our area. |
Does Buckingham have one? | Yes, in fact Buckingham was a front runner in producing one of the first of these plans with allocated sites for houses back in 2015. |
So why is there a new one? | A lot has changed since 2015 and now those housing allocations have been built out. It is time to plan to 2040. |
What are the benefits to Buckingham of having a new plan? | Robust defence against speculative development where the new sites are where the developer wants them, and not where residents would want them.It will also allow the Town Council to receive 25% of any Community Infrastructure Levy (as opposed to 15%) to spend on local projects. |
