Buckingham Town Council is celebrating a fantastic summer of free activities and events that brought fun, learning and adventure to young people and families across the town.
Throughout the summer holidays, the Town Centre and Events Committee delivered an exciting programme designed to encourage children and families to get active, be creative, learn new skills and enjoy quality time together, all at little or no cost.
From energetic outdoor activities and creative workshops to wildlife adventures and live music, there was something for everyone. Highlights included Celebrate Buckingham Day and Lace Hill Family Fun Day, packed with games and bouncy attractions, three action-filled Buckingham Play Days in Chandos Park, and Art in the Market, where young artists could explore their creativity through arts and crafts activities. Families also enjoyed getting closer to nature through Bugfest, the popular ‘meet the creatures’ experience, the Nature and Wildlife Trail in Bourton Park and Nature Makers, where children created crafts using natural materials.
Sporting opportunities proved equally popular, with a lively Skate Park Jam featuring competitions, coaching sessions and demonstrations, alongside six weeks of free basketball coaching in Chandos and Bourton Parks. Meanwhile, music lovers were treated to the vibrant atmosphere of Buckingham Live and Bandjam, two festivals that highlighted local talent and brought the community together.
The fun does not stop there. The Committee will continue its programme of free community events throughout the autumn and winter, including the Bonfire and Fireworks Display, Christmas Lights Switch On, and a new Christmas Craft Day, ensuring that there is plenty for young people to look forward to in the months ahead.
Councillor Stuchbury, Chair of the Town Centre and Events Committee, said:
We are proud to provide a wide range of free and affordable activities that help make Buckingham a great place for families. It has been fantastic to see so many young people taking part throughout the summer, whether they were learning new skills, making friends, getting creative or simply having fun. We remain committed to offering opportunities that bring our community together and create memorable experiences for residents of all ages.
