Armed Forces Day 2026 – Buckingham invites you to show your support

Buckingham is set to mark Armed Forces Day 2026 with a special community event celebrating and honouring the dedication of the Armed Forces community, including currently serving personnel, veterans, cadets, and service families.

The day will begin at 10am with a ceremonial flag raising outside the Community Centre, led by the Mayor and the Town Crier, setting a proud and respectful tone for the occasion.  Residents and visitors alike are encouraged to gather and show their appreciation for those who serve, past and present.

Following the ceremony, celebrations will continue outside the historic Old Gaol until 1pm, where there will be a warm and welcoming atmosphere filled with live music from Judge Bray and the Gaol House Swingers.  The event will offer an opportunity not only to enjoy local talent but also to connect with organisations and groups that play an active role in supporting the community.

The Air Cadets will be on hand to demonstrate their activities and share insight into what they do, making this an ideal chance for anyone considering joining to learn more and have an informal chat.  Visitors will also be able to meet representatives from Buckingham Men in Sheds and the Men’s Walk and Talk Group, both of whom are keen to talk about their work and encourage new members to get involved.

In addition, the local Royal British Legion will be attending and warmly welcomes anyone interested in learning more about their work supporting veterans and their families.  They will be pleased to speak with visitors about membership and the many ways people can contribute.

This Armed Forces Day event promises to bring the community together in a spirit of gratitude, connection, and celebration.

Cllr. Robin Stuchbury, Chair of the Town Centre and Events Committee, said:

We look forward to seeing you on Armed Forces Day.  This is an opportunity for family members to honour people within their family that served in the military in many different capacities.  It is also important that we demonstrate our support to the serving armed forces members.  The Committee is mindful that these commitments, which other people are undertaking, are why we can live the lives that we do.
