Celebrate Buckingham Day – a great success!

Buckingham came together in vibrant style on 20th June as local families and residents enjoyed a memorable Celebrate Buckingham Day.  The event, organised by Buckingham Town Council, attracted a strong turnout, with visitors staying throughout the day to enjoy the lively atmosphere, music, and wide range of activities on offer.

Attendees were able to relax on the hay bales, kindly loaned by Manor Farm, and soak up the atmosphere, listen to the live music or take part in the stall activities, getting faces painted, hands hennaed and enjoying the free bouncy obstacle course, free bouncy castle and the many free giant games.

The day also provided a valuable showcase for the many charities, organisations, and community groups that contribute to life in Buckingham.  Visitors had an opportunity to engage with stalls offering games, trails, and information from a diverse range of groups, including the Cancer Research Buckingham Action Group, the Buckingham Society, Buckingham and District Angling Association and River Wardens, the Royal British Legion, Buckingham Twinning Association, Buckingham Youth Club, Buckingham Rotary, the Mayor’s Charities, the Tourist Information Centre, Deanshanger Hedgehog Rescue, the Buckingham and District Angling Association, Lion Cubs, Stowe Sub Aqua Club, and the Buckingham Environmental Action Network.  Each organisation highlighted the important work and opportunities available within the local community.

Food lovers were equally well catered for with tasty offerings from NYC, Bliss Bites, From Garden 2 Jar, Good Times Café and Saf’s Kitchen.

Entertainment played a key role in making the event so special, with live performances from the Buckingham Ukulele Group, country dancing led by Fraser Winterbottom, and music from the Buckingham University band On/Call, all contributing to the celebratory atmosphere.  Thanks go to G&T Mixers for the PA.

Celebrate Buckingham Day truly reflected the best of the town, bringing together residents, groups, and local traders in a shared celebration of community spirit.

Cllr. Robin Stuchbury, Chair of the Town Centre and Events Committee, said:

Celebrate Buckingham was a well-attended event with good weather and so many organisations involved in offering opportunities for young people to take part in activities.  Of course, none of this is possible without the commitment of the Town Centre and Events Committee and the hard work and dedication of the Officers and Green Spaces Team who support these events and enable our community in Buckingham in North Buckinghamshire to come together for such community events.
