FREE Basketball sessions return to Buckingham this summer

Young people across Buckingham will have the chance to get active, learn new skills and have fun this summer as Buckingham Town Council brings back its popular free basketball sessions to Chandos Park and Bourton Park.

Running every Monday from 27th July to 31st August 2026, the sessions will be led by experienced Basketball England-qualified coaches who will help participants develop their skills in a friendly and supportive environment.

Designed for all abilities, the sessions focus on teaching the fundamentals of the game, improving existing skills, building confidence and encouraging healthy, active lifestyles.  Whether participants are picking up a basketball for the first time or already have experience with dribbling and shooting, everyone is welcome to take part.

The programme includes a session at Chandos Park from 5.30pm to 6.30pm for children aged 8 to 12 years, followed by a session at Bourton Park from 6.45pm to 7.45pm for young people aged 13 and over.

All equipment will be provided, making it easy for participants to simply turn up and get involved. There is no need to book in advance.

Buckingham Town Council is pleased to offer these free community sessions once again, providing local young people with the opportunity to stay active, make new friends and enjoy the sport throughout the summer holidays.

Cllr Stuchbury, Chair of the Town Centre & Events Committee, commented:

This is part of the Committee’s ongoing commitment to provide age appropriate opportunities for young people to be involved in activities such as sport within our local community.  We look forward to seeing as many young people as possible attending these sessions.
