Buckingham Town Council Seeking Sponsorship for Events

Throughout the year Buckingham Town Council arranges a number of exciting events such as the Fringe Week, River Rinses, Bonfire and Fireworks and the Christmas Light Switch-On.  These events are attended by and enjoyed by thousands of local people.
To make these events even better, The Buckingham Town Council are looking to work with local businesses who are looking to raise their local profile.
The new sponsorship pack has options to suit businesses of all sizes and sectors. The Council are also open to discussion and very keen to explore new ideas.

Road Closure: Stowe Avenue from 13th March onwards

Transport for Buckinghamshire will be undertaking highway maintenance road treatment works to the carriageway of Stowe Avenue, Stowe from the A422 to just beyond the Bufflers Holt turn. This work is being undertaken to improve the condition of the road in order to prolong its life and involves resurfacing works to the carriageway.
The works here are scheduled to commence from the 13th March 2019 and it is anticipated they will take up to 9 shifts to complete. No work will be carried out over the weekends. Information signs will be erected on site prior to commencement of the works, giving the actual dates and durations. You will appreciate that works of this nature are extremely weather dependant and therefore may be subject to disruption due to inclement weather. If the works are delayed, the advance information signs on site will be updated to reflect any change in dates.
Work from just before the entrance to Stowe Gardens up to and including the Chackmore junction will be carried out overnight on Wednesday 13th, Thursday 14th and Friday 15th March 2019 under a road closure in operation between 7pm and 7am each night.
No work will be carried out over the weekend.
From Monday 18th March a shortened road closure will be in operation between the A422 to just before the Chackmore junction. This closure will be in operation between 7am and 7pm.

Community Tree Planting at Lace Hill

An impressive 20 volunteers from the local community came along to the Town Council’s Tree Planting Day on Sunday February 2019 at Lace Hill Football Pitches. Volunteers included Buckingham Rotary Club, Buckingham’s Tree Wardens and Town Council staff and Councillors. With plenty of people turning up to lend a hand and lighten the workload, it was a successful and cheerful day of planting.
Volunteers helped to plant 280 saplings to improve the appearance of this green space Volunteers gathered together after planting trees at Lace Hill on a sunny dayand slow the wind down through a mosaic of predominantly broadleaved trees. The saplings were secured from Cole’s Nurseries through generous donation from Buckingham’s Rotary Club to create a native shelterbelt around the pitch and will help to improve biodiversity in the area.
Councillor Margaret Gateley, who also joined in the event, said “It was great to work alongside various community groups on a glorious sunny morning. I look forward to going back in a few months to see how the trees are coming along. Our Estates Team will be keeping an expert eye on them in the meantime.”
