mainThe Youth Council’s aim is to include Buckingham’s young people in local government, give them a voice within the town and the opportunity to develop and shape their community for the benefit of young people. Youth Councillors also take part in Town Council organised events, such as Local Democracy week.

Your Youth Councillors

Alexander Dunne – Chairman
I am 16 years old and currently study at Magdalen College School, however I live on Page Hill. I have passions for more intellectual pursuits, such as reading or chess, and for more active hobbies, like tennis and rugby. I am also a competitive basketball player. I intend to study politics at University.

Listen to an interview with Alexander the new Chairman of the Youth Council:

Kat Field
I enjoy being an active citizen and changing the local community for the better. After completing my GCSE’s I will be going to college and doing the Uniformed Public Service course. This is because I wish to be a Police Officer in the future.

Joe Reilly
I am 15 years old, love all sports and am a keen fisherman. I enjoy helping people and volunteer at a local primary school. I am also going for a Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award.

Amy Bowden
I am currently in Year 9 at The Royal Latin School where I enjoy studying English & German (among a variety of subjects) in preparation for my GCSEs. I am a new member of the Youth Council and am very excited to participate in our community.

Joining the Youth Council

The Youth Council’s success is based on having active involvement and it is always looking to increase membership to ensure this. If you are aged 11-18, a local resident of the town or attend a Buckingham school then you can stand for the Youth Council.

The Youth Council reports back to the Town Council via its minutes. The Town Council supports the Youth Council with administration. Members of the Town Council provide guidance where appropriate.

If you are interested in joining or have any issues that you would like to bring to the Youth Councils attention, please contact Claire Childs, the Clerk to the Youth Council, at deputytownclerk@buckingham-tc.gov.uk.
